I did the force quit of both NetAuthAgent and NetAuthSysAgent - no luck. I can screen share via my MacBook with my husband's iMac across our home network, so I think the problem rests with the iMac, not with my laptop.
I had this issue with Lion this am, and while I didn't find a task called NetAuthAgent, I did have a NetAuthSysAgent running. You can terminate the screen sharing session at any time through the menu bar item, by closing the screen sharing window, or by closing the active Messages window.
