I removed the light connection and thought it worked initially but soon realised it made no difference. And voila the drive works. When the electronics start to heat up, the drive will slow down, and eventually stop working… usually with "write Delay" errors. the trick is to make slow progress around the case, pushing into the seam and using only relatively gentle prying, so as to disengage the snap fasteners instead of breaking them. I pushed my computer into the wall too hard today with a few cords in the back (reckless behavior I know), that included my USB cord to the drive. there are a couple of very small phillips screws to remove to give you access to the interface card.
