Anyway; with avatar alpha and mesh, the only purpose I can find for invisiprims anymore is to poke a hole Hide Permalink Sherry Rivera-Siemer added a comment - 19/Sep/12, 03:13 AM +0200 This is what my creation looks like without the invisiprim. However, the piece of code is easily reactivated by turning a "#if 0" into a "#if 1" in lldrawpoolbump.cpp, and rebuilding. It just doesn't make sense, because : - They are still supported in forward rendering (i.e. "lighting & shadows" off), so the decision is inconsistent. - They have been around for

Invisiprims are invisiprims because they do everything an opaque prim would do except be seen. Socially unacceptable.Unexceptional.Unsociable. So far I could deal with that by simply not turning on advanced lightning. In their infinite wisdom, (while chasing down another small "bug"), LL changed rendering parameters in a debug version of their viewer and made these once invisible textures into the grey and

Note: The new alpha mask feature of Viewer 2.0 has replaced the use of invisiprims to hide parts of the avatar. The Volcano Goddess Mov...

Some V1 based viewers will see them when shadows are enabled, some wont, it depends how up to date with LL shadow code they are. I deleted all my stuff with invis prims like a year ago. My thoughts? If invisiprims go away, we lose those options for content creation. What this change in rendering means is that basically all the empty waterless space that you enjoy in the hull of your boat will now instead appear as a solid mass Posts: 4,551 My Mood: SL Join Date: 11/30/2005 Business: Retired Quote: Originally Posted by Eboni Khan Why are people wearing anything with Invis prims in 2012?

Kinda inbetween places now. There are free alpha foot masks out there; pick some up, and try them until you find one that works for a particular pair of shoes without erasing too much of You cannot script alpha masks in that way. As you no doubt know unless you're relatively new to Second Life, until the introduction of alpha masks with Viewer 2.0, invisiprims were used to hide parts of an avatar's body.

That makes so much sense. (*) Invisiprims are the reason why we could stop wearing these ugly Linden shoes early on. All told, I figure I have hundreds of real dollars worth of SL Merchandise that this change turns into garbage.

The problem is that the number of people running viewers that still can render invisiprims is now so small that wearing such prims tend to make your avatar look weird in They're not all we have anymore. __________________ Quote: Originally Posted by Teeny Leviathan Those Super Gays are as tough as a T-800 terminator and they are gay. 01-16-2012, 01:43 AM llSetPrimitiveParams([PRIM_BUMP_SHINY, ALL_SIDES, PRIM_SHINY_NONE, PRIM_BUMP_NONE, PRIM_COLOR, ALL_SIDES, <1.0, 1.0, 1.0>, 1.0, PRIM_TEXGEN, ALL_SIDES, PRIM_TEXGEN_DEFAULT, PRIM_TEXTURE, ALL_SIDES, "e97cf410-8e61-7005-ec06-629eba4cd1fb", ZERO_VECTOR, ZERO_VECTOR, 0.0]); // Delete ourselves from the prim; we are no longer needed.
